Although it is a humorous read, the author also goes deeper with insights about what it’s like for each individual as they all redefine their lives with a second chance in this deserted ghost town. The characters are experiencing many issues that most real people experience at one time or another in their lives, but have trouble verbalizing. However, author Celia Bonaduce does a great job of describing and dealing with these serious issues in a very entertaining way. Slim Pickins' in Fat Chance, Texas is the very funny second book in this series written by author Celia Bonaduce.
Back in Fat Chance and I couldn't be happier!! The best part of this book is that it is the next step for the best characters from fat chance. There are so many twists and surprises you won't be able to put it down. Bonaduce is a smart , sassy and funny writer with a great big heart !!
I thoroughly enjoyed spending more time with the "characters" in Fat Chance and getting to know them better.
Celia Bonaduce's writing gets stronger with every book. This time she digs deeper into each character, while she maintains her trademark heart and humor. Truly an enjoyable, great read. Can't wait for the next in the series.
Just as delightful as the first one in the series, Welcome to Fat Chance Texas. It's fun and smart, and for me a nice fast read - perfect for escaping from that To Do list I always seem to have ;) I hope there's more in the works for my next escape!
It's a sweet little story with fun characters, fun location, and fun premise. Not much in the way of conflicts. Not much in the way of plot twists. Just a sweet little rom-com of a book. Part of a series. This is second in the series; I had not read the first, and this stands alone just fine.
This entry in the series picks up 6 months after we last visited the ghost town of Fat Chance, TX. And once again it doesn't look like the town and it's remaining residents have that proverbial fat chance of making a go of business. Or romance, for that matter. However, the return of Fernando, from the earlier Venice Beach series, just might improve those chances. Of course, you'll have to follow along to know for sure but this is an easy, enjoyable read and definitely worth the trip.
The book has a great plot the storyline is very unusual. A billionaire left all his money to 6 strangers and two relatives, but to get the money they had to move to a ghost town stay for at least six months and try to bring the town back to life. Five of the people have stayed and did what they could while a lot of others had came and left. A new chef shows up and decides to make a BBQ restaurant for the ranchers in the area to try to get the town up and running. The characters are all quirky and weird in their own way, but they work together well.
